La Playa is a “near” shore technology consultancy. They are headquartered in Quito, Ecuador, with a satellite office in Los Angeles, CA.
Sharing a time zone with New York City makes location an important part of the brand’s DNA. The identity solution needed to represent how easy it would be for a U.S. based company to communicate regularly with their team.
The solution was a bird, an animal that is both at home on the beaches of Ecuador (“La Play” translates to “The Beach”) but also migrates regularly to the U.S.
Having a light hearted approach, to a typically straight laced industry, allowed the brand identity the freedom to be playful. This unique charectoristic was applied across platforms, such as the brand’s website, in a distinct way.
